Reflection about this semester

Ending this semester, I can say it was a good first half of the year. I passed all my subjects and I am ready to start my eighth semester on journalism career. On this months I learned new multimedia tools, necessary to adapt to modern journalism. We also had a class where we made a TV program, with TV host, cameras, lights, a set, guests and all that it means. Fortunately the teacher was happy with the result and all of us had a good note.
Also, since March I am making an investigation with my partner and girlfriend. Is a big one, in fact, it lasts all year, but we made a great team and our teacher guide gave us a good qualification.
This semester was divided by a students movilization, this meant almost two months without class, since May until July. I did not participate much on this and I took this period to see the America's Cup and rest before returning to classes. On the last month We finished all the subjects and was a lot of stress in a minute. Now I have two weeks between the first and second semester.
My reflection is that both inside and outside the university have been a good semester, with my independent work, good news, good company and projections for the future. And the most important, growing as a persons and a journalism student.

"Finally"

The first words of one of the most famous Chilean sports journalist was "Finally, finally". I think that this short expressions reflected a feeling of everybody in this country.
Personally I lived the America's Cup intensely, I tried to see all the matches but for strong reasons I missed two of them. In a beggining I had many expectations about the performance of Chilean Team, but I didn't like how they played the first games, so I started to think that again We would not get the cup.

I saw al the matches in my house, but with different people. Nevertheless always with my dad and virtually with my brother, because he was on Europe. As Chile exceeded stages, the ilussion grew. Normally I don't enjoy so much with the National team, but this time I have to confess that it meant for me a big joy.

The final game was unforgetabble. To me, Argentina was the favourite to win the cup and this last match I felt interminable. Finally, We won on penaltys and all the people of the country went out to celebrate. My friends and I did the same thing, on a car We played the horn and wave the flag of Chile.

I considered myself a big fan of football, and I feel lucky living all this moments. On ninety nine years We had never won something on this sport, and now I can watch and enjoy until the smallest detail. Like the famoust sport journalist say: ¡Finally!

¿Green or not?

This topic causes doubts on me. On the one hand I alway have been respectful with little customs like don't throw the garaje to the floor or burn it and to generate a lot of smoke, but I think that I never have never done something meaningful about it.

In the last years my dad started to recycling. In a corner on the kitchen we collect different types of packing, cartons, bags, tins, between others and every two or three weeks he goes to the "Green Point" located . By myself, I worry to close the key of the water, turn off the lights and the whater heater when are not used. The same way I do with telephone charger,.

Nevertheless, also I have bad practices for the environment. For example, in my house we have a wood stove, but we try to don't use it too much, because it's known the damage that they do. Also exist other daily practices like use spray deodorant or gas for cooking.

Sometimes I think about global problems in this respect and off course that one does not agree with practices like hunting or the big industrial contamination, and personally I prefer live in a green area with a lot of threes and natural landscape instead of a city, but I believe that to be considered a "Green Person" you have to do more than that and prove it with important actions. So, though I do little actions in favour of environment, it might not consider me one of them.

If I were rich...

Many times I have thought what happens if I were millionaire someday. First of all I would buy a house in a sector of city that I like and near to the center. Also, I would buy a house on the south of Chile, where I can go in holidays.

Make a journey is very expensive, but if I were rich I would take advantage of that and travel to different countries on the world. Is a good possibility to know other cultures and beautiful scenery.

I would work but just on a job that really likes me and without concern about the payment, in a flexible schedule and developing personal projects.  I like to collect things, so I believe that I would have a big collection of magazines, football shirts, books, music discs.

I don’t like much cars or luxuries, so have the latest model of a car, have jewerlys or expensive clothes is not going to happen. Neither would spend big a lot of money on silly thing, before that I prefer make some helps to needy people.  Nevertheless I reckon that probably spend a little bit on bets, for fun.

Pitifully this things are just dreams, but maybe one day with effort  I will can do one of these.

My future job

I am studying journalism because I like communications and I want to be part of them. So my future job must be in a media and not in a enterprise where the journalist mainly work on public relations, that’s important.

I am seeing myself working in a radio or written media, I like more the first one, but apparently I have more skills to the second one, because is something that I do since I was a student at the school. Also, in a future I would like develop an investigation area, make some studies, interesting reports and maybe publish a book.

I would like work in a sport area and reporting important events like Olimpic Games, World Football Cup or different competitions. Another possibility is cover one team and travel with them, I think that it’s very entertaining and a good opportunity to know new places and countries.

My first steps are probably difficult, with long hours on the work, but I know that on this career you must be persistent and one of the things that I love is be where the news facts happen.  My idea is always do that I want at the moment, journalism gives that possibility to practice on different areas and in different platforms so I intend to take advantage of this.

Italian Food

Thinking about my favourite food, I realized that I like all related with Italian food. That means pastas, pizza and stuff like this. For example, I always think that my favourite dish is Lasagna, I love it. Also is one of the specialty of my mum, in fact she does it when I am birthday.

Lasagna  has become, so, in a “special food” for me, just for special days. But also I have others similar food which I can eat more often, is the case with spaghettis or pizzas. The people think in Spaghettis as a easy lunch or even a poor one, but for me is a very good option. The good thing is that you can eat it with different  aggregates or sauces and most of the time are tasty.

With Pizza something similar happens, you can add ingredients as you want so always it’s going to result good for you. All this food I prefer on home, because for example, you can find Pizzas in many places like junk food court, but that one have much oil and greasy flavor.

Making this post increased my hunger, so probably I will make one of this plate of food today…

The best Hug

On 2010 I had the best concert on my life. Was made for the commemoration to Bicentennial of Chile and Argentina, and gathered the best rock of both countries. The place choosed was the ellipse of Parque O’Higgins and more than seventy thousand people attended on a show that lasted all day.

The place was willing on a way with two stage at the same time, so when a group ended to play, quickly start another one on the next side. I remember that I arrived before twelve o’clock and had a long row since the park to the metro. Like one hour after then, finally we were inside with my brother and five of my best friends.

At first I didn’t like the first groups and the sun burned much, but after a few hours started to show up just singers and bands who I love, like Fito Páez, Jorge González, Andrés Calamaro, Los tres and Charly  García. Close to eleven o’clock on the night we decided go to the Metro Sation because we don’t have another way to arrive to our homes. I always remember that I had lost see Vicentico, the last singer who appeared on stage.

House of Cards

I started to see House of Cards because I heard on different sites, internet principally, that was a good one series. Some friends see it too, so they recommended me and I accepted.

I saw the first chapter on last december and at that moment the series had been issued until the season two complete.  On summer I saw all the chapters and then I had to wait the season 3, which finally was released on February.

I like this US TV Series because show the politics as really is, whit influences, interest on power and bad practices. For example, the protagonist Frank Underwood gets be the United States President without one single vote, so chapter by chapter you can see how the politicians make this story with every decision. Also appears interesting characters, like the wife of Mr. Underwood, a loyal friend who help him and a journalist who try to unmask all the dark things that happens on the White House.

The same way that my friends recommended me, I say to all the class “House of Cards it’s a really great TV series”.

I would like visit France. Since I was a kid, I think that country it’s great, beautiful, and interesting. The first thing who call my attention was the language, after I saw photos to different place as the Eiffel Tower and the Triumphal Arch. Maybe the attraction to thiscountry made me start follow to the capital team football: Paris Saint Germain. So when I will travel to France, definitively I am going to watch a game on Parc des Princes, his stadium. Lately also discover other interesting activities to do, like visit museums or know their culture, also say the food it´s very tasty.

Where I live

Hi, I am going to talk about the village where I live

Quilicura is a village on the north of Santiago where live approximately two hundred thousand persons.

Here exist a lot of industries and I thing that is the more work produce locally, nevertheless, the majority of people go out for work, like on the center or high neighborhood.

Recently was constructed a Mall Arauco Quilicura, and now is the most fun place, also is located to the side of principal square. This village don´t stands out for be a funny one.

I like that lately the major has made a lot of green area, or exercises machine in the squares and boulevards, so much people can go and do sports on the night and somethings like that.

The bad part is that much people says it´s far away to the center of the city, wich one it´s true. I don´t like it beacuse means a lot of traffic big part of a day.

¿What I would do to improve it? Undoubtedly, I believe that te most important thing to do now is make the Metro of Santiago come to this village, that it would do raise in many aspects: conectivity, modernity, etc.

A shocking photography

Hello everybody, i`m going to show one of my favourite photogaphy

This photo was took by Israeli photographer Oded Balilty, was taken on 2006 and won the Pulitzer Prize for photojournalism in 2007.

The image shows an a woman Jewish settler struggling against Israeli security forces during the evacuation of the one settlement in the West Bank.

I like it because it`s a schoking image that show the difference between phiysical force and strenght, also use the photography to make another way  to see the conflict in Middle East,

When the woman who appeared on the photo, Nili, was interviewed, she says that the image was a little lier because only show her, the police and all the uniformed man behind, but don`t show the people who was behind her, ir means, the lord and israelí people

My cell phone!

My favourite piece of technology is my cell phone, it is an Xperia that my dad gave to me. He works on Claro, so he can get goods mobiles. I use this piece of technology all days, beacuse is complete so I can watch videos, listen music, read, play, it´s great.

In a day, I use it enough, starting with the clock alarm in the morning. Then, I use like radio on the public transport, or i put music if the signal is bad. Also I can review social networks like Facebook or view notice in online diary.

I think that I like so much because it`s a complete tool. I know that all the world are seen a little stupid with the phone all day in the hand so I think that you have to know how use it. In this mionute it is complicated imagine how be my life whitout my cell phone, above all in the comunication whit the people that I meet, but I supose that i`ll be a normally life, after all, this tecnhology is new. Much people live whitour it.

Expectations about this semester

I think that this semester is going to be exhausting because, at difference with the other ones, now I have seven course -five for journalism and two languages-. Some class are little difficult and demand more thoroughness. Now I don´t have much time for fun and this is a little stressful, besides I am always sleepy.

Nevertheless, this academic semester its short because only has three and a half months, ¡that´s a good notice!

About my social life, I am really excited about this summer. I want work for make money to travel or do something fun. Now, how I say, I don´t have much time to do stuff but always I am in contact with friends or girlfriend, maybe go out in weekend, whatever...

Well, that is more or less how I see this semester. But I can´t finish with out before say: I HATE HEAT!
